The most anticipated tennis tournament in the world is a bucket-list event for any tennis lover. Wimbledon’s tournaments are still played on meticulously maintained grass courts. In 2024 the tournaments will run from Monday 1 July to Sunday 14 July.
History of Wimbledon:
In 1868, the All England Club had been founded solely for the purpose of croquet. The world famous tennis tournament originated in 1876 as the “All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club”. Yet, croquet has hardly featured at all since 1882, despite being the club’s founding motive.

Another famous aspect of Wimbledon's history are the iconic strawberries and cream that are sold. There are 38.4 tons of strawberries (1.92 million strawberries, to be precise) served with a dollop of fresh cream, creating a delightful contrast between the tartness of the fruit and the smoothness of the cream. Accompanying the strawberries are more than 444 kg of raspberries that are picked and consumed during the tournament.
