HISTORY
Grand Prix is French for "grand prize"; it is now used to refer to the country's largest and most prestigious F1 race. The first British Grand Prix event was organised by the Royal Automobile Club in 1926 at the Silverstone Circuit, renowned for its challenging layout and high-speed corners.
This track has produced some of Formula One’s most historic and memorable records and races. In 1950, Silverstone hosted the first Formula One Grand Prix championship race that was won by Giuseppe “Nino” Farina in an Alfa Romeo in front of the watching King George VI.
