Gilded Gardens - Enhancing Your Look for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024

by Charlotte Mostert on May 13, 2024

The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Chelsea Flower Show is an annual five-day-long celebration of flowers, plants and show gardens. Hosted on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, where Chelsea Pensioners who are retired soldiers from the British Army reside. More than 300 veterans live there today who have served in Korea, the Falkland Islands, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and World War II.

Visitors are promised thought-provoking designs that tackle challenging themes, such as freedom from torture, as well as visual feasts inspired by history and art. It is a place to be inspired by cutting-edge garden design, discover new plants and trends, and take home a wealth of inspiration for their own gardens. For exhibitors there is a chance to show off their concepts and potentially go home with a coveted award.

Show manager Gemma Lake explains: “This year we are working closely with all our garden designers to bring the most sustainable gardens we can to the show. They are using eco- techniques, low carbon materials and processes that are not only reducing their impact on the environment, but also reducing our waste at the end of the show.

For all Bridgerton lovers, rejoice for there has been word on the ton that Netflix is sponsoring a Bridgerton Garden! The garden will feature a moongate entrance for the first time in 20 years at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the last being ‘Through the Moongate’ which was designed by Lesley Bremness in 2007.

The Bridgerton Garden is designed by first-time Chelsea-designer Holly Johnston and described as 'secretive and secluded space', mirroring Penelope Featherington’s wallflower-like character. The whimsical and ‘unfinished’ design represents a young woman's coming-of-age story, and shows how gardens can represent people's innermost emotions, desires and personalities, much like Penelope's character.

If you are looking for a unique statement piece that will compliment the theme and your outfit, grant yourself the luxury of wearing the The Williamson Brooch. The story behind the design is as follows: Queen Elizabeth II received a rough 54.5 carat pink diamond as a wedding gift in 1947.

It was given to her by Canadian geologist, Dr. John Thorburn Williamson. The stone was then cut into a 23.6-carat round brilliant-cut diamond, which was then set in a white diamond flower brooch designed by Frederick Mew of Cartier in London in 1953. Our Tru-Diamonds™ Williamson Brooch is a beautiful replica of the Queen’s impressively designed brooch, and you’ll feel just like royalty when you wear it.
